 The responsibilities of the Girls in Charge Manager are grounded in the mission and vision of Youth Crime Watch of Liberia. 

Responsibilities:  

Implement and manage the Girls in Charge project as prescribed below:

  • Work with Gender Coordinator to develop and design curriculum for Girls in Charge program
  • Design Health education trainings.
  • Identify and coordinate with local communities to begin Girls in Charge workshops establishing group meetings, schedules, and times
  • Recruit and manage all participants for Girls in Charge
  • Establish activities timeframe and begin the Girls in Charge program
  • Manage weekly activities of Girls in Charge and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Work with Gender Coordinator to recruit and train local volunteers in GIC curriculum. Training on health, trauma healing, and other subjects related to working with young girls and/or vulnerable populations.
  • Ensure smooth running of the workshops. Monitoring them for sensitivity and safety of participants ensuring that each meeting is conducted in a “Safe Zone” with safety and concern to the physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing of the participants.
  • Assist Gender Coordinator in designing, conducting and reporting all M&E for Girls in Charge

Advise and Assist Gender Coordinator in securing funding 

  • Develop and maintain a good working relationship between YCWL and other organizations and partners specifically those with a health focus, relating to the development of Girls in Charge: securing training support, materials, and/or funding support.
  • Work with local YCWL trainers in regards to day-to-day implementation and development of the program. Serve as spokesperson for GIC with approval from senior management
  • Scale up Girls in Charge per the program design  and making adjustments to ensure every participant is safe and comfortable with their own growth process. 
  • Responsible for assessing the needs of GIC participants and making recommended adjustments with the approval of the Gender Coordinator and Program Manager
  • Monitor and report on GIC activities and recommend adjustments where necessary.   
  • Work with Gender Coordinator to design, implement, and seek resources for ensuring sustainability of GIC (possible examples: Production of crafts, woodcarving, reusable pads, and female menstrual bracelets)
  • Update GIC content to YCWL social media networks and website. Assist Gender Coordinator in the creation of monthly newsletter and promotional materials.

Work with Program Manager to advise and assist on the incorporation of Health education and awareness in YCWL programs when applicable.

  • Ensure participation and dissemination of issues affecting the health of young people most especially girls
  • Create education materials, trainings, and activities educating youth on the health issues that most affect them

Desire Class Level:  First Year (Freshman), Second Year (Sophomore), Third Year (Junior), Fourth Year (Senior)
