Overall responsibility
The instructor will work directly with out of school, limited English proficiency youth in an employment and educational skills training and placement program.
Responsbilities: The Work Readiness Instructor is responsible for delivering a job preparedness curriculum to University/College students The Instructor leads activities related to job search and application, interviews, negotiating, proper workplace behavior, and how to leave a job the right way. The Instructor will send email reminders to students to encourage attendance, and casenote attendance in accordance with WAVDI documentation guideline.
Responsibilities include:
- Teach work readiness classes, including resume, cover letter, job interview skills, job market information, career exploration, and workplace culture.
- Assess, monitor, and document participants’ progress, achievements, and relevant program services via Progress Notes in the PTS System.
- Provide group and/or individual job counseling and assistance, including job placement assistance.
- Research and develop instructional materials and lesson plans to strengthen clients’ job seeking skills.
- Provide one-on-one tutoring and classroom instruction to clients to increase their chances of employment
- Provide students support in writing resumes and cover letters, teaching and coaching for adaptive soft skills acquisition, conducting mock interviews, and assisting with job applications
- Conduct a variety of Job Readiness classes that support participants to; gain work readiness skills, assess their employment strengths and barriers and prepare them for applying for jobs.
- Assist clients in preparing and submitting employment applications based on career interests and skill level.
- Develop and update Job Readiness class curriculum Help organize field trips to colleges, job fairs, and other cultural assimilation and enrichment activities.
- Assist in the participant enrollment and screening process.
- Take part in the participants’ case conferences and communicate regularly with other skills instructors, job developers, and other relevant staff members on participants’ progress and job readiness;
- Attend relevant meetings and workshops as needed;
- Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Program Manager.
Qualifications:
- Computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
- Excellent digital skills and knowledge of remote learning platforms preferred.
- Ability to effectively interact and work with program participants and coworkers.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Prompt, responsible, caring, and organized.
Desire Class Level: First Year (Freshman), Second Year (Sophomore), Third Year (Junior), Fourth Year (Senior)
